Even the strongest password can be stolen. That’s why Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is such an important part of protecting your accounts.

MFA adds another step to the login process, asking you to verify your identity through something you KNOW (such as a PIN), something you HAVE (like a smartphone or authenticator app), or something you ARE (such as voice recognition or a fingerprint).

Turn on MFA wherever it’s available, including for email, financial accounts, cloud storage, social media, and work or school accounts.

Only approve a login request when you are the one trying to sign in. An unexpected MFA notification could be a warning that someone else is trying to access your account. If that happens, report it and consider changing your password.

One extra step can make a big difference in protecting your information. #CybersecurityAwarenessMonth #MFA #CaringCommunity #Character #CustomerFocused #EdTech

October is Cybersecurity Month. Strong password habits are a simple but important step toward protecting our information, our accounts, and our organization.

Your passwords are one of the first lines of defense for your online accounts. Here are a few simple password practices to keep in mind:
1. Make passwords long and unique. Aim for at least 15–16 characters and consider using a phrase made up of several unrelated words.
2. Use a different password for every account. A password manager can help you securely create and keep track of them.
3. If a password is long, unique, and secure, only change it if you suspect unauthorized access or are notified of a data breach.

🎒 Back to school means a fresh start, new clothes & supplies 📚, seeing familiar faces 👋 and, of course, remembering passwords 🔐 and how to access applications 💻. But that doesn’t stress our districts out! 🙌 The South Central RIC has them covered. 💪

During the first week of school, our team took over 150 calls a day 📞 and worked on over 10,000 tickets 🎫 to ensure our districts’ technology needs were met and our schools could hit the ground running! 🏃‍♀️That’s a whole lot of #teamwork 🤝, #collaboration 💡, and #dedication ❤️ behind the scenes! 👏 #CustomerFocused #CaringCommunity #Character #Backtoschool2026 #2627schoolyear #K12 #EdTech

Recently, members of SCRIC’s Cybersecurity & Data Privacy team attended Gartner’s Security & Risk Management Summit in National Harbor, MD.

Their key takeaways:

💠 It’s time to shift from breach prevention to true cyber resilience

💠Manage AI by treating it like a digital workforce with identities, permissions, and oversight

💠The human factor remains the most underutilized security control. Invest in Cybersecurity awareness.
